When Todd’s critically damaged ship dropped out of hyperspace near the Human colony world of Azure, he had no memory of his past. He didn’t know who he was, or even what he was, and the Humans didn’t either. That didn’t stop the colonists of Azure—they took him in, anyway…even though they didn’t understand how he could do some of the things he could do.
Todd and his descendants consider themselves Human—eight armed and water-breathing—but Human, nonetheless. After seventy years living among Humans, Todd’s descendants are going back out into the Union to make their mark—from fifteen-year-old Verne, who’s a little short to be a mercenary, to Harryhausen, who wants to be the most famous PI in the galaxy. Eventually they learn that the rest of the Galactic Union knows them as Wrogul, intelligent octopus-like beings known for science and the ability to perform surgery like no other race can.
These Wrogul do more than just practice medicine, but they still intend to do no harm. Unfortunately, the Humans, whether they have two arms or eight, have powerful enemies... and the Wrogul may have no choice.

Do No Harm The Omega War Book 9 eBook Robert E Hampson Chris Kennedy Sandra L Medlock Reviews
- Do No Harm is the story of how Wrogols came to coexist with humans on the human colony of Azure. The book also details how some of the Wrogols leave Azure to find their place in the Universe. The novel also provides backstory to the 4HU Universe as to how certain characters wound up where they did and how humans got their pin plants. The ending of the book almost guarantees their will be a sequel to Do No Harm.
There is not as much action as in other 4HU books but the novel is still enjoyable to read. There is action in the book. I laughed out loud in the local IHOP as I read the section where Verne fought Zuul pirates in his untested self made VASPer. I found it easy to identify with Verne because I work with developmentally disabled adults and Verne reminded me of them a little.
I received an earc of this book from the publisher. After reading it I decided to buy a copy. - Only the coolest alien in Mark Wandrey’s Four Horsemen Universe since the Depik. Kennedy and Hampton do a great job rounding out these alien characters. In other SciFi series, aliens tend to be written very flat or one dimensional. I really like Verne! He never met a machine he didn’t like. Hell, I like all of the Wroguls.
It’s a fun interesting read. - This book is simply amazing. With fairly good editing and amazing plot, this book simply keeps the pages turning. This book covers about 70 years, and provides a good amount of background information on many of the more enigmatic characters of the series. With world altering revelations, we find just how important individuals can be against the greater fabric of the universe.
- Another great book in the 4hu. We learn a lot bout the background history in the novels. The book really asks the question is a human a body or a mindset. Take a read and find out!
- I purchased this book on recommendation of other authors that I read. The story vignettes were by turns a spy puzzle, comedies, romance, and techo-thriller. I was very happy with the action and characters, and will probably buy more in the authors' series.
An alien starship is attacked in hyperspace, with the captain barely able to make transit back to normal space short of the gate. One amnesiac passenger is the sole survivor. This Wrogul, and eight-armed cephalopod, had a safe full of valuables, an 'accidentally' destroyed laboratory, and no memory of its race, mission, or name. Rescued by humans from the colony of Azul, he decides to become the first eight-armed human, able to deal and play his own bridge game, superb surgeon, and wealthy benefactor of his two-armed best friends and drinking buddies.
As time passes, Todd and his offspring develop their unique talents, with some heading off on missions to Galactic fame as doctors, mercenaries with Earth's companies, peace investigators, and .... 'Iron Chef Azul', specializing in sushi. What the Human colony on Azul did not understand was the enmity toward Earth building on Galactic worlds, and by identifying with their saviors and friends, they are also at risk. When teh Humans lose friends (two -armed and other species), they risk everything for their allies and seek out the masters of their long-lost parent race, to stop the evil in its own tentacles.
The characters are written in overlapping vignettes, both human and Human, with great understanding of personalities and a welcome twist on First Contact. Some vignettes are written as film noir or techno-thriller, and others are written with a great deal of fun and buddy comedy. The authors did an excellent feat of writing an intricate, entwined set of tales, and certainly enjoyed their work. With eight-arm Humans named Nemo, Doc Ock, Marinara, and Harryhausen, you know they enjoyed it. Buy this and read for your own enjoyment. - This book is well written and has an engaging story that stands with the best that Space Opera offers today. The fact that the lead author is a world class neuroscientist adds a refreshing dose of reality to the mix.
You might think that after 9 books in the main series that things might be getting Stale, You. Would. Be. Wrong.
I recommend this book for anyone who wants entertaining reads that lasts for hours. Good book! Enjoyed it! - Ive been ready of 4HU since initial four books.
