- BORING!!! The author writes the story as it is fact and it is utter fiction! Then he repeats the story again just in different words. Trust me if it were not because I had to read it for Spanish class and take a test, I would not have. I was happy to destroy it after I read it. It was a chore to read it, and not because I find it difficult to read Spanish, I am fluent in Spanish, it is because it is boring. I also did not like the constant innuendo that Americans killed Puerto Ricans, this just creates prejudice, something I hate.
- One of the shortest but best novels I have read. The way it was written, a masterpiece; will keep you reading and getting mad at some people and what they did and tried to cover it up.

- Prowess of a Purrorrican author of our time. Living close to the setting of the story, this tale captivated me. The way of writing is mesmerizing and the fictional history is so close to heart that it evokes feelings like no other work of fiction has. People who say it's a boring story need to consider the context and the hidden meaning behind the words. Definitely would recommend to all fans of the history of the Caribbean and Puerto Rico.
